Hampton University alumni giving has soared to new heights in 2017!
Key events from fiscal year 2016-2017 included Homecoming, the University’s fourth annual Day of Giving and Reunion Weekend.
Last fall, alumni returned to Hampton in record numbers to participate in the 2016 Homecoming celebration. During this time, the Office of Alumni Affairs held three key events which included the Biggest Day Party Ever, the True Blue Old School Cabaret and the Platinum Experience. In addition, the inaugural class of Hampton’s Forty Under 40 Society was honored at a special ceremony. The events raised over $100,000 combined!
In April, the University set out to reach 1,868 individual donations within a 24-hour period during the fourth annual Day of Giving. Alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends of Hampton showed support for their ‘Home by the Sea’ by giving in record numbers and spreading the word through social media. The event closed with 2,016 individual donors raising an overall $1.28 million! Alumni represented over 90 percent of the donors for this campaign.
Reunion Weekend was met with its own success. Alumni from classes ending in ‘2’ and ‘7’ traveled from across the country to reconnect with their ‘Home by the Sea.’ From the Golden Class and Emeritus Class dinners on Friday, May 12, to the Reunion Picnic and Bazaar, and the Reunion Celebration Dinner on Saturday, May 13; over 900 alumni, family and friends gathered to reflect on and celebrate their time at Hampton. A total of $2.3 million was presented to the University at the Reunion Celebration Dinner by attending classes.
As the fiscal year comes to a close, it is important to note not only the importance of giving, but also general participation. The Office of Alumni Affairs is launching its final campaign of the fiscal year, ‘Count Me In.’ As part of the campaign, all alumni who have yet to participate in Hampton’s 2017 giving campaigns are encouraged to make a gift by June 30. Alumni participation is key to ensuring Hampton’s continued success and growth. In addition, a financial donation, no matter the amount, helps Hampton stay competitive in national rankings, increases the value of every degree, and gives charitable organizations and foundations the confidence to invest in the University.
We’re calling on all first-timers to stand up and be counted!
The Office of Alumni Affairs would like to thank all alumni who have shown ongoing support to their ‘Home by the Sea’ in countless ways. The ‘Standard of Excellence’ continues because of your generosity!
