On Wednesday, April 12, Hampton University will celebrate its 4th annual Day of Giving.
Hamptonians at home and at heart will stand together during the 24-hour event in giving back to the University. This unique opportunity is designed to engage alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff and friends. This year, the University aims to reach 1,868 donors!
Donations made during this exciting event help support scholarships, groundbreaking research, campus improvements and more. Making a gift also helps Hampton stay competitive in national rankings, increases the value of every degree, and gives charitable organizations and foundations the confidence to invest in the University.
“The Hampton University Day of Giving is a time for the Hampton community to come together and show their support for something the University has done for almost 150 years – inspiring and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow,” said Brint Martin, Director of Alumni Affairs. “We’re looking for the many alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends of Hampton to unite in giving back.”
Gifts of any size go where the donor specifies. Whether to a particular school, department, scholarship account or the general fund; your donation counts!
Donors will be provided several ways to make their mark throughout the day. Opportunities include giving in person, a 24-hour telethon and an online giving form. Giving challenges will also be provided to help raise even more. Participation in the challenges can unlock additional funds from a challenge sponsor.
In addition, a celebration will be held in the University’s Student Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for students, faculty and staff. Festivities will include a live DJ, live student performances, an interactive photo booth, raffle giveaways, student testimonials and more.
“It’s 24 hours for everybody to stop and say ‘You know what – I want to give back,’” said Ernestine Combs, Director of the Annual Fund. “We want to see not only alumni, faculty and staff give back and participate, but more importantly – the community. We want them to join in and rally around this event.”
Hamptonians across the globe are asked to make a financial contribution to their ‘Home by the Sea’ on this special day. Giving back plays an essential role in preserving the Hampton legacy and improving the college experience for Hamptonians in the generations to come.
Pirates – near and far, it’s up to us to make sure this Day of Giving is the most successful to date!
