HU Office of Alumni Affairs Announces New Young Alumni Forty Under 40 Recognition Society

In May 2016, the Hampton University Office of Alumni Affairs launched their search for the Hampton University Forty Under 40 to recognize exceptional young alumni who are achieving great success in their professional, philanthropic and personal endeavors. This honor will be given out annually to young alumni leading the way in business, leadership, community, and educational and/or philanthropic works. This campus-wide collaboration is being led by the Office of Alumni Affairs with support from the Office of Development and various academic departments.

The Forty Under 40 is the first-ever alumni program exclusively designed to identify some of Hampton’s most exciting young alumni. According to the Program Director, Ms. Brint M. Martin, “We see this program as a great way to engage alumni and develop our own ‘Who’s Who’ of HU’s youngest graduates- the #YoungAlumniToWatch. Hampton has a rich tradition of grooming young leaders and trailblazers, and this is our way of recognizing and honoring their accomplishments. We have countless graduates that deserve the community’s attention and we hope, with this effort, to get that conversation going.”1

The forty honorees will be chosen based on their professional expertise, achievements and their dedication to charitable and community initiatives. Nominations for the Forty Under 40 inaugural class opened on May 1, and is currently accepting submissions. Honorees will be announced in September. During Homecoming, the campus community is expected to gather for the inaugural Forty Under 40 Awards Luncheon to celebrate these individuals and their outstanding achievements.

Nominations will remain open until June 30, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Nominations are only accepted through the online portal and will not be accepted after this date. Additional information regarding the nomination process and criteria is available online at
